There was a report last week that the Jets were set to hire former Rams defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson for the same position on Todd Bowles’ coaching staff. The team has made the move official.
We have hired Dennard Wilson as DBs coach.

This was worth noting since another rumored hire for a position coach apparently did not pan out. Wilson, however, is on board as the Jets start to fill out their staff to replace the numerous assistants fired after the season.
Wilson had spent the previous five seasons with the Rams organization, first as a defensive quality control coach for three seasons and the last two coaching the defensive backs. He began his career in the Bears organization as part of the scouting department. It isn’t terribly uncommon for people to jump between scouting and coaching early in their careers as they try to figure out the right path for them.
This is one of the first dominoes to fall in the staff shakeup.
