Williams came into the league last year with high expectations. Through two years, he has been meeting them. This is his first Pro Bowl selection.
Williams posted 68 tackles and 7 sacks in his second season with the team. The defensive line he anchored was supposed to be one of the best in the league. It was a major underachiever, but that was not due to Williams. The stats don’t really do justice to the way he won his assignments consistently, which isn’t always reflected in statistics. The Jets can still hope the best is yet to come. Williams will only be 23 years old by the time the 2017 season starts so there is reason to believe his ceiling is even higher than the high standards he has already set.
