Jets Practice Squad Signing Live Update Tracker

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

As of 1:00 p.m. Eastern, the Jets and other NFL teams may sign free agents to their practice squads.

The practice squad is comprised of ten players who practice with the team. To be activated for a game, they must be elevated to the 53 man active roster.

Up to four practice squad players may have two years of accrued time in the NFL. The rest must have less than two years. Practice squaders may not have more than two years.

Even though practice squad players are practicing with a team, they functionally are free agents, meaning they are free to sign to any team's active roster. There are a few exceptions for upcoming opponents so that your team's next opponent cannot just sign you, pump you for information, and then cut you.

Since the Jets will be cutting players to make room for their waiver pickups, the practice squad might not be full for a day or so. The team could try to add some of the players who will be cut today to the practice squad, but they need to clear waivers first.
