Jets Week 2 Game Ball: Quincy Enunwa

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets won, which means we give out a game ball.

Over the course of the season, I have two rules for a game ball. Whenever possible, I try to avoid giving it to the quarterback, and I try to avoid giving it to repeat winners. Since this is the first win of the year, we don't have to worry about repeat winners.

On the quarterback thing, Ryan Fitzpatrick did have a performance worthy of a game ball, but there were plenty of other viable options to prevent me from having to give it to him.

Matt Forte had 3 touchdowns. He has to be considered. A number of receivers also stepped up, but I am going to give my game ball to Quincy Enunwa. Part of it is how important his emergence was in this game and how important it will be for him to sustain it going forward. He did a little bit of everything in this game. He got vertical. He showed strong hands making contested catches. He was a physical runner after the catch.

His numbers weren't as big as Brandon Marshall's or Eric Decker's, but I thought he made some big plays early that helped Ryan Fitzpatrick settle into the game. Fitzpatrick was shaky early before finding that groove.

There is a lot you can get on the coaching staff for, but I think Enunwa is one of their great success stories. They are moving him around and utilizing his versatility effectively.

He gets my game ball. Who gets yours?
