Jets vs. Bills: Sammy Watkins' Status in Doubt for Buffalo

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins' status for Thursday's Week 2 game between the Jets and Bills is in doubt due to a foot injury. Buffalo head coach Rex Ryan said the team has no plans to shut Watkins down, and the receiver indicated he would play yesterday. He was, however, listed on the injury report as missing practice completely.

Losing Watkins would be a tough blow to a Bills offense that did not show much of a pulse in a season-opening loss to Baltimore on Sunday. Although Buffalo's passing game struggled, the Jets' pass defense also struggled in a season-opening loss to the Bengals. Watkins also had a big game in last season's Week 17 finale, a Buffalo win that knocked the Jets out of Playoff contention.
