Jets vs. Bengals Final Score: Cincy Wins 23-22 as Jets Can't Overcome Wasted Opportunities

The Jets fell to 0-1 today as they lost at home 23-22 to the Cincinnati Bengals. The loss snapped New York's five year winning streak in Week 1 games.

The Jets can look in the mirror for this loss. As was the case so many times last year, special teams let them down. Nick Folk had a chip shot field goal blocked and missed an extra point. Those sting in a one point loss. This came after a sequence where the Jets were up 7-0 and could not convert six plays from inside the ten to take complete control of the game early. The offense had another trip to the 2 yard line that resulted in a field goal. Even with all of this, the Jets still had the lead late, but the defense could not get the big stop.

If your season comes up a game short, you look back on this loss as one that got away.
