As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Freddie Bishop.
Name: Freddie Bishop III
Number: 56
Year With Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Competing for starting outside linebacker job
His 2015: Bishop finished fourth in the CFL with 11 sacks for the Calgary Stampeders. After having success developing his game in Canada, Bishop decided to come down to the States to try for an NFL career. The Jets signed him.
2016 will be a success if: Bishop becomes a useful player for the Jets. I tend to think there is a better chance he lands a role than a lot of people. The CFL is a couple of notches down from the NFL, but it still is a professional league with quality players. Having experience gives him a leg up. I'm not sure Bishop has the type of athletic ability to become a star like Cameron Wake, but from what I know of him, he looks like a smart and disciplined player who doesn't get pushed around. Sometimes these things don't translate to a higher level of competition where everybody is bigger, faster, stronger, and better, but I wouldn't rule out him developing into some sort of decent player. Of course, he also might be in so far over his head that he fails to make the team.
Odds of making the roster: 50/50
