As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Tarow Barney.
Name: Tarow Barney
Number: 60
Year With Jets: 1st
Projected Role: Competing for one of the last roster spots as defensive line depth
His 2015: Barney finished up his career at Penn State. Despite mainly serving as a backup, he caught on as an undrafted free agent with the Jets after an impressive bench press performance at Penn State's pro day. The Jets surprisingly issued D'Brickashaw Ferguson's number 60 to him.
2016 will be a success if: Barney can make the practice squad. The typical warnings about an undrafted free agent defensive lineman on this team apply. It is not going to be easy, and Barney is likely a project. His long-term projection might be as a nose tackle. It could easily be a battle with Deon Simon to be the project nose tackle of the future for the Jets.
Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
