The Giants beat the Jets tonight at MetLife Stadium 21-20.
The starters did not play into the second half for the Jets.
The defense played only through the end of the first half. It was a dominant performance by the unit. Muhammad Wilkerson announced his return on his first play registering a tackle for no gain, one of four tackles he made that resulted in either no gain or a loss. Darrelle Revis intercepted Eli Manning on a pass where Odell Beckham, Jr. seemed to slow on his route hearing footsteps from Calvin Pryor. That set up the only score of the first half, a touchdown pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Eric Decker.
That was the only highlight on offense as Ryan Fitzpatrick had a bad night at the office. Even some of his early completions were floating too frequently. Brandon Marshall was a healthy scratch, but these misses were not about Marshall. Fitzpatrick was missing throws left and right.
A bad night for Fitzpatrick in preseason isn't a big deal, but David Harris' injury might be. Harris injured a shoulder late in the first half.
In the second half, Christian Hackenberg got his first action and led a touchdown drive on his first series but threw an interception that led to the winning score for the Giants.
We will have plenty more tonight and tomorrow.
