As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Dexter McDougle.
Name: Dexter McDougle
Number: 23
Year With Jets: 3rd
Projected Role: Competing for backup cornerback spot
His 2015: McDougle returned from the torn ACL that cost him his rookie season in 2014 and worked mainly on special teams. He did get 25 snaps on defense against Washington subbing for an injured Buster Skrine and held up pretty well in that game. Aside from that and some work in a blowout win over Miami, he did not see the field much on defense.
2016 will be a success if: McDougle provides the Jets with some value as a subpackage player. This isn't a lot to ask. Carve out a role in a few packages and play well against the other team's fourth option. I can give him a pass for last year. He was coming off a serious injury. This is his third year. A third round pick should be providing his team with some sort of value on defense by this point.
Odds of making the roster: 50/50
