Jets Roster Analysis: Can Calvin Pryor Build on a Solid Second Year?

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Calvin Pryor.

Name: Calvin Pryor

Number: 25

Year With Jets: 3rd

Projected Role: Starting safety

His 2015: Pryor bounced back from a tough rookie campaign in 2014 where the Jets probably put too much on the plate of a rookie. In his second season, he developed into a quality starter and an important part of the defense. As much as anything, his role seemed to involve saving the day on the back end if things broke down. He can cover a lot of ground. It is easier for the Jets to take chances on defense knowing Pryor is back there to chase down people in the event things go wrong.

2016 will be a success if: Pryor maintains his level of play from 2015. Sure, it would be nice if he improved and became a star. The team doesn't need that, though. The player the team had in 2015 is plenty good enough.

Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
