Jets starting right tackle Breno Giacomini has been on the physically unable to perform list since training camp opened. Yesterday Todd Bowles indicated the veteran lineman will be out of practice for at least another week.

No, he’s getting better but not this week.
Bowles did say there is a chance Giacomini will be ready for Week 1.

Yes.
There still are three weeks to go, but not practicing this week will presumably keep Giacomini out of Saturday's preseason game against the Giants. The starters typically do not play in the fourth and final preseason game so Giacomini would presumably only have two weeks of practice and no games to get himself into playing shape in a best case scenario. And that is a best case scenario where he could start practicing next week.
All of this amounts to a big opportunity for Ben Ijalana.
