New York Jets running back Matt Forte has been battling a hamstring issue during training camp. He returned to the practice field on Sunday. Yesterday he indicated that he will be ready by Week 1 but also that he hopes to play in next week's preseason game against the New York Giants, one where the starters will see extensive action.
Matt Forte says he "definitely" will be ready for Week 1. Wants to get some playing time in 3rd preseason game (vs Giants)

Normally I like seeing an aging back not taking any hits in preseason. This might be an exception, though. Forte has missed so much practice time that I don't think it would be a bad idea to get him out there to get into rhythm as long as he is on a pitch count.
The Jets play the Giants at MetLife Stadium on Saturday August 27 at 7:30 Eastern.
