Jets Roster Analysis: Can Buster Skrine Handle Being the Second Corner?

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Buster Skrine.

Name: Buster Skrine

Number: 41

Year With Jets: 2nd training camp

Projected Role: Number two corner sliding into the slot when the Jets have three corners on the field

His 2015: The Jets signed Skrine as part of their secondary overhaul. He got off to a fast start, looking like the type of tackler and cover guy a slot corner should be. His play tailed off after the first few weeks, and he was beaten in coverage more. With Antonio Cromartie's departure, Skrine will take on a bigger role this season.

2016 will be a success if: Skrine looks capable as a second banana. With quarterbacks generally avoiding Darrelle Revis on the other side, the second corner is likely to see a lot of action. Skrine did have some success in this role in Cleveland opposite Joe Haden.

Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
