Jets Roster Analysis: Zach Sudfeld Returns in 2016

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Zach Sudfeld.

Name: Zach Sudfeld

Number: 44

Year With Jets: 4th

Projected Role: Competing for tight end roster spot/special teamer

His 2015: Sudfeld missed the entire 2015 season after tearing his ACL in a drill during an offseason practice on contact with Calvin Pryor.

2016 will be a success if: Sudfeld develops into a functional blocker and/or receiver. At the price the Jets are paying, Sudfeld does not have to do a whole lot to be a good value. He hasn't been a good value for the Jets during his career, however. He has all of the measurables needed to play the tight end position. He has some solid training camps under his belt, but he has been unable to do much of anything as a blocker or receiver to justify a spot in the lineup. He is already 27 so time is running out.

Odds of making the roster: 50/50
