Jets Roster Analysis: Can Kellen Davis Provide the Jets With Any Value?

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Kellen Davis.

Name: Kellen Davis

Number: 47

Year With Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Competing for starting tight end job

His 2015: Davis was a big part of the least effective group of tight ends in the NFL. Despite playing 40% of the team's snaps, he only had 3 catches all season for 18 yards. It would be one thing if he was an effective blocker, but he did his job as a blocker only a little more effectively than he did as a receiver.

2016 will be a success if: Davis provides the Jets value in any way. Can he become a functional target? Can he become a functional blocker? Any sort of decent play would be an improvement. It seems like the coaching staff still has him slated for a big role so he might get his chance.

Odds of making the roster: Probable (75%-99%)
