The Jets open their 2016 preseason tonight with a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The leadup to the second preseason opener of the Todd Bowles Era was much less eventful than the first. You might remember a year ago all of the IK Enempkali-Geno Smith drama that took place right before a game against the Lions in Detroit. This year, things are quieter.
Preseason results tend to not be very important, but this is the NFL debut for the players the Jets drafted and the undrafted free agents. It is also a first chance some players have to show that they have improved their games over the offseason. It also matters quite a bit for players on the fringes of the battle for a roster spot. Even if they do not end up sticking with the Jets, the film is their resume for every team in the league.
