Jets Roster Countdown: What Type of Rookie Year Will Darron Lee Have?

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Darron Lee.

Name: Darron Lee

Number: 50

Year With Jets: 2nd

Projected Role: Backup linebacker who will see time on passing downs

His 2015: Lee closed out his final season at Ohio State by registering 11 tackles for a loss and being named Second Team All Big Ten.

2016 will be a success if: Lee plays effectively in a limited role. It certainly would be great if like Jonathan Vilma and David Harris before him Lee finds a spot in the starting lineup and plays well enough to keep it. He is not a finished product, however. His target date to become a starter is likely 2017. What is important is to see a player who does not look totally overwhelmed on an NFL field and seems to be getting better each week.

Odds of making the roster: Lock (>99%)
