Jets Roster Analysis: Mike Liedtke Has an Opening to Make the Team

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Mike Liedtke.

Name: Mike Liedtke

Number: 65

Year With Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Competing for backup offensive line roster spot

His 2015: Liedtke spent training camp and the preseason with the Dolphins but failed to make their final roster. He ultimately signed to the Kansas City practice squad. The Chiefs originally signed him to a reserve/future contract to bring him back in 2016, but they subsequently let him go. The Jets picked him up.

2016 will be a success if: Liedtke makes the roster. The Jets have a lot of bodies along the interior offensive line but nothing proven. There is nothing to stop him from earning a roster spot. Heck, if he really impresses, he could end up the starter. With that said, this doesn't seem like the most likely outcome. This is an undrafted free agent who two teams have let go in the last year. The Chiefs didn't even think he was one of their top 90 players.

Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
