Jets Roster Countdown: Julien Obioha Faces Long Odds to Make Team

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Julien Obioha.

Name: Julien Obioha

Number: 65

Year With Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Camp body hoping to impress his way into a edge rusher roster spot

His 2015: Obioha's final season at Texas A&M saw him register 29 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He was undrafted and then signed by the Jets as a free agent.

2016 will be a success if: Obihoa impresses the team enough to earn a practice squad spot. The Jets have absolutely nothing in the way of proven outside linebacker/defensive end types. Even so, it is difficult to imagine an undrafted project like Obioha finding his way onto the 53 man roster. If he is going to make it as a player, he probably will need some developmental time.

Odds of making the roster: Unlikely (less than 25%)
