Jets Roster Analysis: Who Is Jesse Davis?

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Jesse Davis.

Name: Jesse Davis

Number: 69

Year With Jets: 1st

Projected Role: Competing for an offensive line roster spot

His 2015: Davis was an undrafted free agent out of Iowa. He eventually caught on with the Seattle Seahawks for training camp but failed to make the 53 man roster. The Texans showed some interest in him before the Draft and after his departure from Seattle, but Davis could not even catch on with a practice squad.

2016 will be a success if: Davis shows enough to earn a spot on the practice squad and impresses enough to stick all season. This does not feel like a player ready to contribute anything. If he is going to become a quality player, it will probably be at some point in the future. The fact no team even had interest in him as a practice squad player is likely an ominous sign.

Odds of making the roster: Longshot (less than 25%)
