As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Dakota Dozier.
Name: Dakota Dozier
Number: 70
Year With Jets: 3rd
Projected Role: Competing for a backup interior offensive line spot
His 2015: After a rough preseason that saw him squarely on the roster bubble, Dozier only played 4 offensive snaps in 2015.
2016 will be a success if: Dozier shows signs he can play on the NFL level. This is very much in doubt right now. It can't speak well of him that he wasn't given a look after injuries to Willie Colon or Nick Mangold. I don't think it would be overly controversial to say John Idzik's 12 man Draft class in 2014 is not looking particularly stellar right now. One of the areas where things look roughest is the third and fourth round range. In many ways, this separates the teams that know what they are doing from the teams that don't. The Jets had four picks in those two rounds. Two of those guys are already cut. The other two, including Dozier, have not shown anything through two years to suggest they can contribute. Unless we see a big improvement, those four picks will go down as a squandered opportunity to improve the foundation of talent.
Odds of making the roster: 50/50
