As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Ben Ijalana.
Name: Ben Ijalana
Number: 71
Year With Jets: 4th
Projected Role: Possible swing tackle
His 2015: Ijalana did not play a snap for the Jets and was regularly inactive on gamedays despite speculation he would be the first guy to get the call if anything happened to left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson.
2016 will be a success if: Ijalana provides quality depth if called upon. He is a total blank slate. He flashed enough ability to be drafted by the Colts in the second round in 2011, but he has played a grand total of six snaps since his rookie season. Constantly plagued by injuries, it is difficult to say exactly what he can do. For what little we know, it doesn't seem like anybody in the league is particularly high on him since he sat on the free agent market unsigned for a month. The Jets also haven't given him much of a look for offensive line openings in recent years. Anything positive from Ijalana would be a step forward.
Odds of making the roster: 50/50
