Ryan Fitzpatrick developed quite the connection with Jets receiver Brandon Marshall last year, they both had a tremendous year, as Marshall went on to catch 109 passes for 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Marshall has spoken this off-season about wanting Fitzpatrick back. Some suggested that he skipped OTA's along with Decker because he wasn't happy about Ryan remaining unsigned, but now it appears as though the relationship is on the rocks.
Speaking yesterday, Marshall revealed that he hasn't heard from Fitzpatrick in weeks, despite them usually talking every day.
"I don't know what's going on. To be honest, me and Fitz talk every day, all the time, but I texted him the last two weeks three times and there's no response," Marshall said on Michael Rapaport's "IAM RAPAPORT" podcast. "The only thing that he can do to make this right is to say he was on vacation, ‘I was out of the country.' It's not like him. It's scaring me right now. It's scaring me that my guy hasn't texted me back."
You can read into this as much as you want, the truth is we don't really know what's going on. If you want to read a comprehensive round-up of what's been reported, then I suggest you read John's excellent piece from the 12th of July.
However if we learnt anything from the Wilkerson contract, it's that the press only find out key bits of information when the Jets want them to find out key bits of information.
Training camp starts on July 30th, so time is running out if the Jets want to get Fitzpatrick signed before the festivities kick off.
