As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at Jace Amaro.

Name: Jace Amaro

Number: 88

Year With Jets: 3rd

Projected Role: Starting tight end

His 2015: After a promising rookie season, hopes were high for a breakout campaign for Amaro entering 2015. It did not materialize. After a somewhat rocky offseason and early training camp period where he was reportedly not working with the first team offense, he was lost for the season due to a shoulder injury in August.

2016 will be a success if: Amaro plays like a quality starter. The Jets got next to nothing out of the tight end position in 2015. Amaro is not a strong blocker, but he probably will not be much of a downgrade. Really if Amaro can be a quality fourth option, this offense will look improved. Hopes still remain that Amaro can grow into a Pro Bowl level player. Still, those warning signs from last summer linger. Is this coaching staff not sold on Amaro? Are there valid reasons if so? Given the way things looked last year, you could be forgiven for thinking Jace just might be a surprise cut.

Odds of making the roster: Most Likely (75-99%)
