Who Got the Jets Off the Field Last Year?

Not all tackles are created equal. There's a difference between jumping on a guy after a big 12 yard gain and making the stop that ends a drive.

With that in mind, I wanted to take a look at which players made the big plays for the Jets in 2015. I went to Pro Football Reference's play finder and examined the third and fourth down plays where the defense did not surrender a first down. Here are the tackle numbers.

David Harris 11
Marcus Gilchrist 8
Calvin Pryor 7
Buster Skrine 6
Demario Davis 6
Leonard Williams 5
Sheldon Richardson 3
Antonio Cromartie 3
Muhammad Wilkerson 3
Lorenzo Mauldin 2
Stephen Bowen 2
Dion Bailey 2
Erin Henderson 1
Marcus Williams 1
Darrelle Revis 1

Harris had something of a renaissance season in 2015, and it seemed to come out of nowhere.

As far as the others go, it might be surprising to see members of the secondary so high on the list. It probably shouldn't be, though. On third and fourth down, these guys frequently play the sticks, willing to surrender a completion short of the marker. It is then up to them to make the tackle.
