Jets Roster Analysis: Can Deion Barnes Land a Roster Spot?

New, comments
Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the 2016 season, we are going to profile the players on the roster. Today we look at  Deion Barnes.

Name: Deion Barnes

Number: 95

Year With Jets: 2nd Training Camp

Projected Role: Competing for a depth spot at linebacker

His 2015: Barnes signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State. He spent training camp and preseason with the team but failed to make the final roster. He was able to land a spot on the practice squad.

2016 will be a success if: Barnes can make the 53 man roster. The odds seem squarely against him. You would be hard-pressed to find a realistic roster projection that has him making the cut right now. There still is an opportunity. He has had time to learn the system, and the Jets have nothing in the way of proven players at his position.

Odds of making the roster: Unlikely (between 25% and 50%)
