As we discussed, the period for compensatory picks is over. Here are some of the top free agents still on the market. Could the Jets have any interest in them?
Ryan Fitzpatrick
OK, this is the obvious one,. We know the Jets want Fitzpatrick back. We know Fitzpatrick wants to come back. The two sides just cannot agree on his value. At some point, we will get a resolution on this.
Dwight Freeney
Freeney is old, but he still looked like he had some life in 2016. The Jets indicated they wanted to get younger off the edge. With so many unproven players at the spot, could they have interest in Freeney as a part-time player? Reports are that he wants to continue his career.
Anquan Boldin
He might not be the speedy deep threat who would fit across from Brandon Marshall on the outside, but he would be a quality veteran presence. Devin Smith is both unproven and recovering from injury.
Leon Hall
Hall is mainly a slot corner these days, but he could be an insurance policy for Marcus Williams with the Jets moving Buster Skrine into the number two spot at cornerback.
Jahri Evans
Evans is in clear decline, but the right guard situation is messy at the moment. He still could be an upgrade.
