Jets Claim Jerome Cunningham; Waive Dri Archer

Yesterday the Jets claimed tight end Jerome Cunningham off waivers from the Giants. To make room on the roster, they waived return man Dri Archer.

Cunningham caught 8 passes for 59 yards last season. The 24 year old played in college at Southern Connecticut State. His addition came shortly after the Jets dropped another former Giants tight end, Adrien Robinson. The Jets are the land of opportunity for tight end prospects. There is not a proven player on the roster at the position. Cunningham stands a real chance of making the team.

Archer's time with the Jets was short. Known for his blazing speed, a number of people hoped he could stick and add some life to the return game. This move shows clearly that many fans regarded Archer higher than the Jets ever did.
