In the aftermath of D'Brickashaw Ferguson's retirement, the Jets are going to re-sign Ben Ijalana, who was a backup lineman for the team last season.
The #Jets do plan to re-sign OT Ben Ijalana as part of their contingency options in light of D'Brickashaw Ferguson's retirement, per source.

Confirmed #Jets plan to bring back Ben Ijalana in light of the Brick retirement news (as @DWAZ73 said)

Ijalana was a second round pick by the Colts out of Villanova in 2011. He joined the team in 2013 and has played a grand total of six offensive snaps.
I can only guess this is part of the plan to replace Ferguson. It certainly does not sound like the entire plan. If Ijalana wasn't good enough to get a look at right guard or to replace Breno Giacomini, it is difficult to see him as a viable option starting at left tackle.
