Free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer was a target of the Jets a year ago. He signed with the Texans, who went on to trade Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Jets. Struggling to agree to a new deal with Fitzpatrick, the Jets again showed interest in Hoyer. The veteran has signed with the Chicago Bears, however.

Mike Maccagnan again affirmed today that the focus of the Jets is on getting Fitzpatrick back. The team has only reportedly made a contract offer to Fitzpatrick. One might guess that the Jets will remain frozen on the veteran quarterback market until Fitzpatrick either re-signs, goes somewhere else, or retires. Todd Bowles said the deadline for a resolution is not until the start of training camp. There still should be veteran options available for a while.
That option will not be Hoyer.
