The Jets have selected wide receiver Charone Peake from Clemson with the 241st selection. This was the team's second seventh round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.
This is likely going to be a pick that excites a lot of people. The valuations on Peake were all over the place, but there were some pundits who had him as a second day pick. At 6'2" and timed in the 4.3 range for the 40 yard dash, he certainly has the physical attributes to be successful in the NFL.
Many of the panned third day picks do not pan out, and many that receive praise do work out. With that said, Peake seems like a project well worth the Jets' time in the seventh round.
Here is David Wyatt's scouting report on Peake.
I'm really up in the air with Peake. Sometimes when I watch him, I think he has all the tools to be a legitimate #1. He has that size, he has that length and he has that speed. Then I'll see him drop a straight forward ball and disappear, and that just can't happen at the college level. As a result I have no confidence in him making the jump to the next level.
