Mike Mayock has his final mock out in preparation for Thursday's first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Like many other analysts, he has the Jets taking a new quarterback of the future.
20 NYJ PAXTON LYNCH QB MEMPHIS
Ryan Fitzpatrick did a heck of a job last season, but I don't think the Jets have the answer on that roster at quarterback. Lynch is a lot like Joe Flacco, but is more athletic. Lynch can be special, and I don't think Bryce Petty or Geno Smith are the answer.
Lynch is Mayock's third quarterback off the board. Jared Goff and Carson Wentz unsurprisingly go 1-2 to the Rams and the Eagles while the Memphis signal caller slides all the way down to 20.
I know Lynch is a divisive prospect, but there is a possibility he will be a Jet before the night is out. This team is pretty clearly in the market for a quarterback, and he seems to be the consensus best guy who will not be off the board following the second pick.
