Luke Marquardt Signed by Jets

The Jets have signed offensive lineman Luke Marquardt

Marquardt played college ball at Azusa Pacific University. He is 26 years old and originally signed with the 49ers and an undrafted free agent in 2013. Due to various injuries, he hasn't played a game since his junior year of college, almost five years ago.

I think Marquardt is clearly a camp body. It would be an accomplishment if he could find a way to get a spot on the practice squad. There is virtually no chance he could contribute to the Jets in 2016.  This is a case of digging deep and hoping you can strike gold on a reclamation project.

At this point in the year, only the top 51 salaries a team has count against the camp so this signing has no impact on the team's cap status.
