Jets 2016 Schedule Firsts

Ray Carlin-USA TODAY Sports

Here are some interesting notes on the Jets' 2016 schedule, which was unveiled last night.

Week 1: This year will be the first time the Jets open against the Bengals since 2004, which was also Carson Palmer's first NFL start. If you are looking for good omens, the Jets won that game 31-24 and went 10-6 that year.

Week 2: Back in 1970, the Jets were part of the first Monday Night Football broadcast. This year when they play the Bills on Thursday Night Football in Week 2, they will be part of the first NFL game broadcast  legally streamed on Twitter. We might look back on that night as a huge one in the history of the way we watch sports.

Week 4: Due to a quirk in the scheduling process through the years, this will be the first time since 2004 the Jets host the Seahawks. Gang Green had roadtrips to Seattle in 2008 and 2012. Again if you want good omens, the Seahawks had a solid squad that year that eventually won the NFC West. The Jets still blew them out on that day 37-14.

Week 12: For the first time since 2011, the Jets will play on Sunday Night Football. The game is against the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium. So was the last Jets Sunday Night game.

Week 17: For the first time since 2010, the Jets close out the season at home. They played the Buffalo Bills on that day. They play the Bills again to end 2016.
