The LA Rams have made a splash in their new city by agreeing to a trade with the Tennessee Titans for the #1 overall selection. There were rumours that the Jets had some interest in moving up, however according to multiple reports, the Jets were never in the running, and after seeing the terms I'm rather happy about that.
LA Rams receive:
2016 #1 overall selection
2016 #113 overall selection
2016 #177 overall selection
Tennessee Titans receive:
2016 #15 selection
2016 #43 selection
2016 #45 selection
2016 #76 selection
2017: Rams 1st round pick
2017: Rams 3rd round pick
For my money, those be rich terms. However as always, this trade will completely depend on if the Rams can find that franchise QB, something they so desperately need, and what a way to introduce yourself to a new city. You have to imagine that the Rams are eyeing up Jared Goff or Carson Wentz and this puts a lot of pressure on them to get this selection right.. After all, it was the Rams who took advantage of the aggressive Redskins who moved up for RG3 just a few years ago.
I'm not sure either QB is worth trading away this bounty for, but the Rams must have seen something to get them interested in one of them. This also shakes up the board for the Browns who may take the other QB or may look to trade that selection. With the general opinion that the quality at the QB position drastically plummets after the top 2, someone may be willing to give up a significant amount to get in the running.
The Titans must be delighted with this, they have a host of holes that need filling, and by securing 4 top 100 picks to go with their own selections (that weren't traded away), they now have the ability to put a competitive team on the field for year 2 of Marcus Mariotas career.
If I had to put my money on it, I'd say the Rams will select local California boy Jared Goff to be the face of their franchise in LA..
