Adam Schefter, who broke the story of the Ryan Clady trade indicates Clady was at the Jets team facility and took his physical the day before word of the trade became public.
Clady arrived at the Jets' complex for a physical Friday and agreed to a restructured contract with the Jets on Saturday, sources said. It's a one-year deal worth $6 million in base salary, with $3 million of that guaranteed, and it could increase to $7.5 million based on playing time and/or honors.
On Friday evening, there was talk of a contingency plan being in the works. The signing of Ben Ijalana did not seem like it could be the plan.
Little did we know at the time that the Jets were already well on the way to trading for Clady. It is somewhat surprising to hear he was in Florham Park on Friday and nobody found out.
The physical indicates the Jets are satisfied with Clady's health. It also was an important hurdle to clear before the deal went through.
