Jets Offseason Rumors: Does Buffalo Have Interest in Bilal Powell?

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Jake Steinberg says the Bills have interest in Jets running back Bilal Powell.

Powell of course played for Bills head coach Rex Ryan from 2011 through 2014 when Rex coached the Jets.

This offseason, I am going to be inclined to think there is a good chance the Jets will lose a player when another team has interest. This might be an exception. The Bills do not have a ton of salary cap space, and their backfield has talent. This is even if you factor in the uncertainty of LeSean McCoy's status.

You can never count out Rex Ryan when it comes to wanting to bring in one of his former players. I think the Jets would stand a good chance of keeping Powell, though. For the first time in his career, he seemed to find a role late in the 2015 season. This happened to be the first year of his career he was not coached by Rex Ryan. Would he go to Buffalo? Maybe, but his best chance to make an impact on the field is probably staying with the Jets.
