10 Years Of 20th Overall Selections: A Look at Where the Jets Pick

What's in a number? Well if that number relates to the NFL draft, it can be a whole lot.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

I don't know why I do it, as it largely has no relevance whatsoever to your own selection, but when I find out where the Jets will be selecting, I go back and look at the previous picks at that selection. To see who's been drafted, to see what kind of value can be had, but also just out of general interest.

So I went back and looked at all the players selected 20th overall for the last 10 years, and I thought if I found it interesting, maybe you'll find it interesting.

2015: Philadelphia Eagles - Nelson Agholor, WR

2014: New Orleans Saints - Brandin Cooks, WR

2013: Chicago Bears - Kyle Long, OG

2012: Tennessee Titans - Kendall Wright, WR

2011: Tampa Bay Bucs - Adrian Clayborn, DE

2010: Houston Texans - Kareem Jackson, CB

2009: Detroit Lions - Brandon Pettigrew, TE

2008: Tampa Bay Bucs - Aqib Talib, CB

2007: New York Giants - Aaron Ross, CB

2006: Kansas City Chiefs - Tamba Hali, DE

So what do we take from here. 5 defensive players, 5 offensive players. You have three pro bowlers in there with Long, Talib and Hali. Some question marks and some misses. Draft strategy is very specific to each team, but this should give you a general idea of the kind of players available around that 20th selection.
