The Lions have been in the market for marginal Jets players. First they signed Jeremy Kerley. Then they kicked the tires on Stevan Ridley. Now they have signed cornerback Darrin Walls.
The Detroit Lions announced Tuesday that they have signed unrestricted free agent CB Darrin Walls. Contract terms were not disclosed.
It would help the Jets in terms of compensatory picks if Walls signed for some money, but it is very difficult to imagine the Lions gave him anything more than the minimum. Walls profiles as a camp body. The soon to be 28 year old has no track record of quality NFL play. His only starting experience was an unmitigated disaster as he had a lead role in the bottom of the barrel 2014 Jets secondary that required Mike Maccagnan go out and sign three free agent cornerbacks to fix.
It is tough to imagine this one impacting the Jets negatively.
