Jets general manager had a brief call with the press yesterday. He touched upon Ryan Fitzpatrick, Muhammad Wilkerson, Damon Harrison, Darrelle Revis' injury, and other topics. As should come as no surprise, there was not a whole lot of substance coming from a call with an NFL general manager at this time of the year. Here are some of the highlights.
Maccagnan says he didn't become aware of Revis' wrist injury until about a week ago. Wasn't receiving treatment in-season. #NYJ

Macc says Revis wasn’t on injury report because the #Jets never treated it. All they did was tape it up.
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) March 18, 2016
"It was never an injury that was really brought to our intention," Mike Maccagnan said of Darrelle Revis' wrist, in terms of last season.
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan on Revis' wrist surgery: "One of the doctors felt it was potentially a torn ligament."
— New York Jets (@nyjets) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan: "We feel we have a very good situation for Ryan [Fitzpatrick] here. He's a very good fit for us." #jets
— Kimberley A. Martin (@KMart_LI) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan won't get into any details of talks with Fitzpatrick. "Our goal is to hopefully get Ryan under contract," he said.
— Dom Cosentino (@domcosentino) March 18, 2016
Macc says goal is still to get Ryan Fitzpatrick back. Won’t go into if the #Jets & he are close/far. "I’ll leave it at that"
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) March 18, 2016
"We like Ryan. We’d like to have Ryan back. I think at the end of the day, it’s free agency. You go through this" - Macc on Fitz
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan: We did obviously bring in RGIII... It was more to do our due diligence with him.
— Eric Allen (@eallenjets) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan: "At some point in time hopefully we can find a middle ground we’re both happy with."
— New York Jets (@nyjets) March 18, 2016
An expected theme developing here: Macc doesn't want to discuss contingency plan(s) if they can't sign Fitz. #NYJ
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan says #Jets have backup plans at QB. Adds that "our focus is to get something done w/ Ryan" & RGIII was them doing "due diligence"
— Dennis Waszak Jr. (@DWAZ73) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan won't put a timeline on when he'd like to get a deal done with Fitzpatrick.
— Dom Cosentino (@domcosentino) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan: "Ryan is a free agent and we're actively trying to facilitate a contract with him." #Jets
— Dennis Waszak Jr. (@DWAZ73) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan said thought right now is that D'Brickashaw Ferguson will be on Jets' roster in 2016, but also adds "we'll see" how things unfold
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
Mike Maccagnan said Geno Smith was "technically ahead of Ryan" last offseason. Maccagnan praises Smith's performance last offseason.
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
"He would definitely be a possibility to step into that role," Maccagnan said of Geno Smith maybe starting if Fitzpatrick signs elsewhere.
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
"I thought we were close when it was all said and done," Mike Maccagnan said of Jets' contract offer, compared to Giants, for Damon Harrison
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
"The Giants made a very aggressive, very competitive offer for Damon," Mike Maccagnan said of Harrison. "It was above ours."
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan said Jets "tried to close the gap as best we could" in Damon Harrison's contract offer with Giants.
— Dom Cosentino (@domcosentino) March 18, 2016

Maccagnan on McLendon & Jenkins: They've agreed to terms... Good value type guys in the marketplace.
— Eric Allen (@eallenjets) March 18, 2016
Macc says Jenkins and McLendon are "good value-type guys" in the market. Notes that they have limited $$$ to spend this off-season. #NYJ
— Chris Lopresti (@CLoprestiWFAN) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan on McLendon & Jenkins: McLendon has some history at the nose & Jenkins gives us some flexibility along the DL
— Eric Allen (@eallenjets) March 18, 2016
"We know he's a little bit older than some of the other backs, but he's still a very good back," Mike Maccagnan said of Matt Forte.
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
"It was a market probably flush with cash (cap room available)," Maccagnan said of free agency, when asked about other QBs getting big money
— Darryl Slater (@DarrylSlater) March 18, 2016
Maccagnan confirms that both Jordan Norwood & Courtney Upshaw visited, says both visits went "very well." Jets will see how it unfolds.
