Wednesday was a fairly active day in free agency for the Jets. They reached an agreement with backup defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins. It had been long rumored. Jenkins visited Florham Park late last week. Some national writers indicated a deal had been struck, but those reports proved to be premature. Confidence remained the team would get something done with the lineman, and it happened. Bilal Powell also officially signed his contract.
The Jets also lost some players. DeMario Davis signed with the Browns. Antonio Allen signed with the Texans. These were the last two players still on the roster from Mike Tannenbaum's final Draft class. That means no player from that class earned a second contract from the Jets. That is as dismal as it gets.
