Gang Green adds its second defensive linemen in as many days. Yesterday, the team signed a replacement for Damon Harrison in former Steelers nose tackle Steve McLendon, and now the Jets acquire the 28-year-old Jenkins. Already possessing Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, and Leonard Williams, this signing should mainly act as a depth addition to the defensive line.
Jenkins was previously selected in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Redskins, where he played from 2012-2014 after missing his entire rookie year due to an ACL injury. He signed a one-year deal with the Bears last season, but has fallen short of expectations coming out of college, registering only six sacks and 63 total tackles in four seasons.
