The Jets finally got back into action in free agency on Wednesday. They made their first major addition outside the backfield, agreeing to terms with former Steelers defensive lineman Steve McLendon.
McLendon will likely try to fill the void left by the departure of Damon Harrison to the Giants. I am sure the Jets would love for 2015 seventh round pick Deon Simon to emerge as a quality starter, but the Jets could not enter 2016 banking on that. They needed some form of veteran insurance, and the seven year veteran out of Troy should provide just that.
As I seem to write every day, all is still quiet on the Ryan Fitzpatrick front. At this point, indications remain that this situation could take a while to play out.
