The Jets had shown interest in Beachum to potentially improve their left tackle position. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is aging. He also carries an exorbitant cap figure in 2016 and is coming off a poor season.
The Jaguars are on a free agency spending spree looking to improve their roster to compete in the AFC South. They entered this offseason with one of the biggest cap surpluses in the league. It was always going to be tough for the Jets to win a bidding war with a team like that. Last offseason the Jets had a lot of flexibility. Next offseason the Jets are on track to have a lot of flexibility. This offseason they do not.
Beachum had spent his entire four year career with the Steelers.
