Colin Kaepernick Trade Rumors: Ian Rapoport Says Jets Behind Denver and Cleveland

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets have been recently linked with 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in trade rumors. Ian Rapoport says the team is currently the quarterback's third most likely destination behind the other two suitors, Denver and Cleveland.

This is no great shock. It is fairly well-known that the Jets' top choice is Ryan Fitzpatrick. The team has also shown some degree of interest in Robert Griffin III as a fallback plan. Kaepernick is a less attractive alternative to Griffin because the Jets would have to give up something in a trade. They also would likely need to rework Kaepernick's contract while they could simply work out a contract with Griffin on their own terms.

This quarterback situation feels like it could take some time to play out. While nobody is showing Fitzpatrick the type of money he wants, there are not any good alternatives out there. That includes Griffin and Kaepernick despite their considerable hype.
