As Ryan Fitzpatrick continued to break numerous records with the New York Jets through the 2015 season, it was widely accepted that he would return to Gang Green in 2016. However Adam Schefter is reporting that the two camps are "nowhere close" to a deal.
Jets and free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick are nowhere close to an agreement, with no deal expected anytime soon, per sources.

The market for Ryan Fitzpatrick is unknown. However with Peyton Manning retiring and Brock Osweiler reportedly signing with the Houston Texans, that leaves a gap in Denver. It has been speculated that the Broncos may make a push for a QB who threw 31 touchdowns against 15 interceptions in 2015.
Personally I think it's in Ryan's best interest to return to the Jets with Chan Gailey, but with him being 33, it's understandable that he'll look for every penny with this being his last chance at a sizeable contract. The Jets are restricted with how much they can spend thanks to a lack of cap space.
If Ryan does end up signing in Denver or anywhere else, that would leave the Jets with former starter Geno Smith, and raw second year player Bryce Petty fighting it out for the starting QB position. How much did Geno learn from watching from the sidelines? How much progress did Petty make with one year of NFL coaching? We may find out soon enough.
