Jets Promote John Scott Jr. and Hire Two Others

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets have just announced the replacement of three different openings on head coach Todd Bowles' staff. Former defensive quality control coach John Scott Jr. was given the nod to take over as assistant defensive line coach.

Scott was hired by the Jets last season, his first NFL coaching job. He previously worked for seven different college programs, most recently as the defensive line coach for Texas Tech before coming to New York.

David Diaz-Infante worked with Bowles in Arizona. He was an offensive assistant coach with the Cardinals for one season. He played for three different teams in the NFL.

Tim Atkins was an assistant for Whittier College for two years and then transitioned to a defensive assistant for the Miami Dolphins in 2006. He will make the short trip to New York from Rex Ryan and company in Buffalo. He has worked as a football operations assistant since 2011 with the Bills organization.
