There is a rumor that the NFL's salary cap is set to jump to at least $155 million in 2016.
I'm told the NFL's salary cap is expected to jump to at least $155M this year. Nearly $12M more than last year's ($143.28M).

Earlier projections set the cap for somewhere between $150 and $153 million. This is important to watch for the Jets because they do not have a ton of cap space to work with as they try to both lock up their key free agents and improve the roster heading into 2016.
An extra million or two could prove to be very important for the team. It isn't necessarily that the Jets will be able to upgrade the roster by signing a $1 million player. It's that the extra money might be the difference between being able to work out a deal with somebody important (Chris Ivory perhaps) and losing that player.
