2016 has been a lost season for the Jets. Muhammad Wilkerson has been one of the biggest disappointments on the team. Wilkerson broke his leg during the season finale in 2015 and spent much of his offseason rehabbing it. He spoke today about some of the regrets he has about the way he and the team medical staff approached his recovery.
“We didn’t have a game plan going into the season,” Wilkerson said Thursday, when asked if it would have been more beneficial to play less early in the season.
.................................
“We didn’t really get one until, maybe, halfway into the season,” he said. “So I’m happy that we did find a plan and it’s working and we’re going to continue through the offseason.”
It probably didn’t help that Wilkerson was away from the team for much of the offseason because he was seeking a new contract.
Whatever the issue was, Wilkerson is going to be on the team in 2017 at a very high salary. He will have plenty of time to rest and recover fully from whatever has been bothering him on the injury front.
